What We Do

At Just Bathe, we are dedicated to supporting families enduring the heart-wrenching experience of losing a child. Our mission is to provide comfort, dignity, and compassion during their most vulnerable moments. We do this by offering specially designed bathing packs to hospitals, which enable parents to lovingly bathe and care for their child one last time. These packs are thoughtfully curated to ensure that parents can create a peaceful and meaningful farewell, fostering a sense of connection and honouring the bond they share. Through this simple yet profound act of care, we hope to bring solace to grieving families, helping them navigate an unimaginable loss.

Compassionate Support for Families

We are a non profit unregistered charity. Whilst the founder Dr Steph Alger initially self funded one hundred boxes we now need your donations to carry on the positive work. We hope to raise five thousand pounds in 2025 to enable us to distribute two hundred and fifty boxes to other trusts nationwide. It is our plan to gage the demand country wide and if necessary register the charity in 2026. In the mean time we promise you that every penny will be spent on the boxes and their distribution. We thank you for your support.

Compassionate Support for Families

Mission:
At Just Bathe, our mission is to bring compassion, dignity, and support to parents facing the unimaginable heartbreak of losing a child. Founded by Dr. Steph Alger after the tragic loss of her own child, we are dedicated to providing essential bathing packs to hospitals, ensuring that parents have the resources to share tender, meaningful moments with their child in their final hours. Through our work, we aim to ease a small part of their pain by enabling acts of love, care, and connection when words cannot suffice.

Vision:
We envision a world where no parent faces the loss of a child without the resources and support they need to honour their child's life with dignity and love. Just Bathe are dedicated to ensuring parents can create cherished final moments amidst their grief.

Our Mission and Vision
Our Story

Just.Bathe was founded by Dr. Steph Alger, a mother and who experienced the devastating loss of her son in a tragic car accident. In the midst of her grief, Dr. Steph recognised the profound and instinctive importance of small, meaningful acts of care during the final moments with her child.

Inspired by her personal journey, Dr. Steph created Just.Bathe to ensure that no parent facing such unimaginable loss would be without the resources to do the same. Our charity provides thoughtfully designed bathing packs to hospitals, giving parents the tools to ‘bathe’ their child creating a meaningful goodbye.

Through Just.Bathe her son’s legacy lives on.

About The Just.Bathe Box

Box Contents

We have put a great deal of thought into the items included in each box:

  • Bamboo wide-tooth comb

  • Compressed sponges

  • Muslin cloths

  • Nail file

  • Cotton buds

  • Cotton pads

  • Pack of tissues

  • Body wash/shampoo

  • Body lotion

  • Soap bar

  • Olive wood bowl

The Olive Wood Bowl

One of the most significant features of the box is the olive wood bowl. Each bowl is unique, with its own natural grain—symbolic of the individuality of every child. We hope parents will take the bowl home and, in time, find a meaningful place for it.

The Box

The box itself has been deliberately designed to be sturdy and larger than necessary. This allows parents to use it for other precious keepsakes, such as locks of hair or palm prints.

Leaving the hospital without a child, carrying only a carrier bag, is an experience that no parent should have to face. We hope that this box provides a more fitting way to leave, offering even a small sense of dignity and care.

As Just.Bathe boxes become more recognised within hospital settings, we also hope they help staff identify grieving parents, allowing them to offer support when needed.

Future Improvements

We welcome feedback and will review the contents based on what parents find most useful. If certain items are not being used, we will adjust accordingly. Additionally, as costs fluctuate or better deals become available, we may modify the contents while ensuring the box retains its high quality—something we believe is essential for parents spending their last precious hours with their child.

Each box currently costs £20 to assemble. As our charity grows, we hope to secure better prices without compromising on the quality and care that each box represents.
